This week's PDC Complaint Winner is..... Jon Russell!

.
As readers know, last week I filed a 5 count PDC Complaint against Jon Russell.

That complaint alleges:

First, if you and anticipate spending more then $10,000 in a campaign, then you must file electronically.

I understand why a career politician type like Russell wants to hide as much of his campaign as possible. But the rules are the rules, and they're fairly straightforward, and certainly someone who constantly reminds us that he owns a clinic (as if that's any reason to vote for him) while having a nothing-but-political-resume' should have no trouble figuring out the PDC rules....

Should he?

Second, it’s really naughty to pay off congressional campaign debt with state representative campaign dollars.

I know Russell is an abysmal fund raiser. Who would actually WANT to give money to him? Months on the Congressional campaign trail.... and Russell could only raise $30,000.

Don Benton, while running for the US Senate, raised that in a week.

Third, it's just as naughty to falsely report the date of a debt on a C-4.

Fourth, did you really believe you could list March debt on an April C-4 reported May 10th?

And finally, when you use those darn consultants, an itemization of their services is required.

Especially those consultants you're paying while they trash someone... or others... without mentioning, even in passing, that you're still paying them.

Yes, this is certainly the Jon Russell we all know and love.

The PDC seems to have agreed with my position, or the following email was just a huge coincidence:

Subject: PDC Filing Reminder - Weekly C-3s
Importance: High

A filing reminder from the PDC for 2010 candidates and their treasurers:

....

Mailed reports are filed when they are postmarked; electronically filed reports are filed when they are transmitted. E-filed reports can be submitted 24 hours a day. Any candidate may e-file contribution and expenditure reports, candidates who spend or expect to spend $10,000 must e-file their reports.*

So, you see, the part about filing electronically seems fairly straightforward and simple enough that even Russell, who seemed stumped as to what his duties were as Chair of the Washougal City Council Finance Committee, given his horrific overwatch of the Sellers Debacle and the $100,000 that still vaporized should be able to get it.

Only.... he didn't. And, apparently, doesn't.

Because he is STILL filing manually, in violation of a rather clear requirement as outlined above.

So, to that end, I AGAIN filed an ADDITIONAL PDC complaint against Russell for again failing to file electronically. And when he fails to file electronically NEXT week, I will AGAIN file a complaint against him for that.

I guess in Russell's world, he don't need no stinking rules.

Just like we don't need him in government.

More lies of misrepresentation about Sarah Russell, fake doctor

I admit it. I just don't get it.

Sarah Russell is not a doctor. So why does she misrepresent herself as one?

This goes beyond weird.

This is just getting out of hand.

Thanks again to the anon tipster who keeps send me this stuff.

Update on Jon Russell's lies about his wife's profession and revisionist history.

As I pointed out yesterday, Jon Russell has been lying about his wife's profession since he hit the campaign trail for Congress.

He has repeatedly referred to her as a "physician," and even now calls her a "family nurse practitioner" when, in fact, she's an "advanced Registered Nurse practitioner" (according to the state) and in the article mentioned below, Russell referred to her as a doctor.

Here's the screen capture of the article yesterday:

The paragraph in the screen capture above in the lower right corner says:

“Though Jon Russell isn’t a medical practitioner, as co-owner of Columbia Gorge Medical Center in Washougal with his wife, Dr. Sarah Russell, he claims to have a novel approach to healthcare.”

He also seems to have a novel approach to lying.

Now, to protect himself, or at least try to protect himself, I anticipated that Russell would set about to get this lie changed. That, of course, is why I did a screen capture that provides undeniable proof that Russell has been lying about his wife for reasons only he can explain to you. That's also why I didn't use the screen capture yesterday in the original post, because I knew he would set about to get the article changed because I forced him to tell the truth.

So, here's the screen capture of that same article today:

Revisionist history at it's finest.

The offending article now says:

“Though Jon Russell isn’t a medical practitioner, as co-owner of Columbia Gorge Medical Center in Washougal with his wife, family nurse practitioner Sarah Russell, he claims to have a novel approach to healthcare.”

Odd, isn't it?

Yesterday, his wife was a doctor. Today, she's presented as a family nurse practitioner. The state, however, says she's an advanced registered nurse practitioner.

At this point, maybe the problem is that Russell has no idea WHAT his wife does. But one thing is certain: she's not a doctor.... even though in the interview, Russell clearly indicated she was.

Now, I appreciate the fact that Russell reads my blog, and that in his panicked state, immediately set about to change the story he SHOULD have changed over 2 months ago. Can anyone not believe that Russell lied deliberately, and only had the story changed to be a little more truthful (he's still lying about what his wife is) only as a result of this blog and Russell Watch?

Why, if it weren't for anticipating this completely predictable thug's actions, I wouldn't be able to prove that he was lying... would I?

In fact, I anticipated he would do that, which is why I did a screen capture in the first place, because except for lying, Russell has proven himself to be very big on revisionist history.

But the fact is that a picture really DOES tell a thousands words, although this picture really boils down to just a few:

Jon Russell is an out and out liar.

And is that who we want to send to Olympia?

Thanks to the anon tipster who left this info at CCP on the original post.

Update: So, who's still breaking the PDC law in the 18th District this week?

Earlier, I had posted this:
Regular readers already know that CCP has filed complaints against two candidates in the 18th District. So, here we are a few days later.... let's see how they're doing now, shall we?

First was Anthony Bittner, who really doesn't want to be the state representative from the 18th District unless someone hands it to him like a chalupa at Taco Time.

Bittner has failed to file anything since the 27th of May. While not required to file C-3's if he hasn't made any deposits, which is something of a euphemism for "if he's so lame he can't raise any money," he's still required to file for his expenditures.

On June 10th, Bittner was required to file a C-4 for that purpose. According to the records, he's filed nothing.
This is an error on my part; Bittner in fact filed two C-4's within 48 hours of the CCP complaint filing... although it is bizarre that according to his filing for April (submitted 44 days late) Bittner indicated he had zero expenses of any kind.

Clark County Politics regrets the error, and since Bittner is now in complaince, will not be filing further complaints aginst his campaign at this point.

___________________________________________

Next was Jon Russell. Russell, in direct violation of PDC requirements, has been filing his paperwork manually instead of electronically.

Even though he and every other candidate was warned by the PDC via email on Friday, he's STILL choosing to break the law by failing to file electronically.

That's just one of many of Russell's violations, detailed here:

But how someone who has sworn an oath to uphold the law as an abysmal example of an elected officials in the Train Wreck known as Washougal should expect anyone to support him when they are deliberately breaking that law is beyond me.

Tomorrow, presuming these issues aren't rectified, I will file an additional PDC Complaint against each of these candidates, as they continue on in their journey of disrespecting the law they tell us that we should send them up to Olympia to make.

Fat Chance.

A letter I sent to the Reflector:

.
I’m seeing a great many canned letters from and for Jon Russell in his orchestrated letter to the editor campaign, letters giving the illusion that he has broad support from around the district; letters that oddly happen to be roughly the same length with verbiage hot off his web site.

The problem is this: Russell is a Washougal City Councilman. During Russell’s tenure, Washougal has been a disaster at the city government level, a disaster Russell obviously wants to bail out on before it’s fixed. That this guy couldn’t even stand up to Sellers tells me he’s incapable of standing “against” either federal mandates OR Frank Chopp.

First, he signs off on an unbondable city finance director who cost $48,000 to fire. Then, he signs off on Stacy Sellers’ and Jeff Bivens’ expense report from Vegas. Then, $100,000 in city money mysteriously vaporizes. Then Russell, ever the career politician, launches an abysmal failure of a congressional campaign, and now, with his term limits shtick, he’s telling us that under his plan, we wouldn’t have Joe Zarelli, Ed Orcutt, Don Benton or, while they were in the House, Marc Boldt or Tom Mielke allowed to run for office to represent us.

Last May, he lied to the 18th District PCOs at a meeting I was at, telling them he had raised $10,000 when the number was closer to $5,500, and referring to his nurse practitioner wife as a “physician,” period. Combine that with the thousands he earned from the Vancouver Port Levy as he tried to help them ram a horrific tax increase down the throats of the people a while back… and the true Jon Russell emerges.

Russell, who ran for city council while also running for Congress, has a duty to the people of Washougal to straighten out the mess that HE is in large part responsible for before he bails on them and climbs another rung on his political career ladder. I, for one, want to be able to think for myself. I don’t need an incompetent career politician like Russell, who’s entire resume’ is political, to come out here from some other state a few years ago and tell me who I can, or cannot vote for. Which is just one of the many reasons why I won’t be voting for Russell.

Proof of Jon Russell's lies about his wife being a doctor.

From the Vancouver Business Journal:
Local clinics feel waves of national policy
Newly-signed healthcare legislation creates new rules, regulations and many questions
BY MAT BOES of the VBJ
April 2nd, 2010

In Clark County, where 10 percent of the population is uninsured and another 13 percent can't afford access to healthcare, according to the Clark County Public Health Dept., many patients are already encountering the effects of a brave new world in healthcare - one complete with different rules, regulations and lots of questions.

Though Jon Russell isn't a medical practitioner, as co-owner of Columbia Gorge Medical Center in Washougal with his wife, Dr. Sarah Russell, he claims to have a novel approach to healthcare. As does Dr. Rebecca Hoffman, who runs a similar clinic in Vancouver, Great West Family Care.

More:
This, of course, is a lie. Sarah Russell, Jon's wife, is not a doctor and never has been.

Why someone has to lie about this sort of thing is simply beyond me. But lying like that is yet another reason to vote for someone... anyone.... besides a clearly pathological liar.

Russell had a duty to tell the truth to these people.. He had an additional duty to correct this story once it came out.

Do we want a proven liar to represent us in the legislature?

I know I don't.

So, the PDC sends out an email reminder to EVERY candidate yesterday...

.
A fond HELLO! to all of you coming over here from The Jon Russell sleaze blog, a complete rip-off and my name sake "kellyhintonwatch."

Most of the information about me and Ann Rivers located on Russell's sewer is completely false, partially false, or wildly exaggerated. Who I am and my history makes as much difference to Ann's candidacy as who the sleazeballs are involved in the Russell Campaign.

Does it really matter that Russell pays Gary Wiram to do character assassination and hit pieces without mentioning that Russell is paying him? Does it matter that some little psycho is running "kellyhintonwatch," or that I know who she is?

No. Not really.

Jon Russell is a liar of almost psychopathic proportiions. And to prove it, one of the big differences between the sleaze factory Russell's "consultant" is running and my blogs are that each and every allegation I have against Russell is linked and proven. I have it as a personal policy, offered to anyone, the right to contact me and offer evidence that I have it wrong; in which case I would offer them the ability to correct the statements I make, unedited by me.

And you know what?

To this day, neither Russell nor Herrera ever have.

So, when the mystery writer who thinks we don't know who she is writes:
Stop and think about that….Jaime got the 50% +1 support needed to get the #1 spot in the appointment process from the grassroots on the first ballot in a field of 13 total candidates. That is an impressive accomplishment.
And she's lying through her teeth (there were, in fact, more then one ballot taken and needed to achieve that... although, come to think of it, Jon Russell WAS ELIMINATED on the first ballot. I would know, since I was there, and the simple idiot writing her garbage wasn't) I take the opportunity to point out that when I write "what kind of man would do that," I either provide personal knowledge (what Russell has personally said to me) or I link to the evidence.:
The kind of man that would ask for someone's social security number to do them harm.

The kind of man who would deliberately violate the law of this state's Public Disclosure Act.

The kind of man who would send out canned letters as part of a campaign ploy, acting as if they were spontaneous expressions for support of this clown.

The kind of man who would deny any responsibility for the debacle of Washougal City Government that HE, PERSONALLY, is responsible for.

The kind of man who would deny us the right to choose our own candidates, and who, were he to get his way, deny us the right to vote for people like Joe Zatrelli, Ed Orcutt, Don Benton, Marc Boldt and Tom Mielke.

The kind of man who would lie to others about the role he's played in working to stop the Cowlitz Casino.

The kind of man who would lie to the Precinct Committee Officers of this district about how much money he's raised and what his wife's job is.

The kind of man who would talk a great game about illegal aliens, but not even bother to show up to speak at or listen to the Woodland Resolution debate about that very subject.

The kind of man who claims to be a conservative, but who made thousands trying to ram the Vancouver Port Levy down our throats... like any other political mercenary.

The kind of man who would leave Washougal's government in a mess with a missing $100,000 so he could climb another step on his political career ladder.

The kind of man who would hire an unbondable buddy as Washougal's city finance director.

The kind of man who would support that horrific bridge replacement/loot rail plan that will blow a $100,000,000 a year hole in our local economy.

The kind of man who would lie about someone personally in an effort to discredit them.

The kind of man who would take balloons away from kids because they had the wrong logo on them.

The kind of man who would take credit for getting rid of Sellers while failing to explain his cowardly silence while she was still around.

The kind of man who would attack others for being the very thing he, himself, is: a career politician.

The kind of man who would constantly portray his wife as a doctor, even advertising that lie, when she clearly is not.

The kind of man who would lie about getting a college degree.

The kind of man who would deliberately violate state Public Disclosure Commission law.... and violate that law for months.
Her blog, done at the complete behest of Jon Russell, is rife with inaccuracy and a total and complete pass for Russell's lies and deceit. Few links. Although she was certainly intelligent enough (?) to link to the blog with the most damaging evidence available against the guy paying her, certainly fails to back up much of her blather. (Note to Jon: I DO hope she gives you your money back. It's hard to believe you're actually paying for this.)

THAT said, I DO appreciate her efforts to (along with that of others) drive up my readership.

So relax. Sit a spell. Cruise around and enjoy reading about the many reasons that Jon Russell is not only unfit to be a state representative, he is unfit to hold ANY elective office.

Thanks for coming by!

Now, back to the post that has been briefly interrupted for that PSA:

______________________________________________________

A few days ago, CCP filed a PDC complaint against Jon Russell.

Russell, best known for an abortive congressional campaign and working so diligently to screw up Washougal city government, isn't the most transparent campaigner you're ever going to see.

In fact, Russell has, to this point, filed manually in a deliberate effort to cover up his donations and expenditures, all the while knowing (and hence, all the while violating PDC law) that he would have expenditures in excess of $10,000.

That was complaint Number One of Five.

One of the immediate results of filing this complaint seems to be this:

How cool is that?

I file this complaint against Russell, and 2 days later, this pops out.

Regardless; as of this writing, Russell chooses to continue to break the law while continuing to run an opaque campaign.

Oddly, I never believed that campaign laws were mere suggestions. Apparently, Russell, who, as chair of the Washougal Finance Committee oversaw every aspect of the Stacee Sellers debacle, doesn't agree.

CCP has filed a PDC complaint against Jon Russell.

Look. I admit it. I loath Jon Russell. I pity the people that buy into the facade that Russell stands for anything but Russell and political opportunism.

But the basis for the complaint, which was rather complicated and large and which grew to several pages as it was being developed, is based on evidence that Russell has deliberately attempted to manipulate the transparency aspects of the Public Disclosure Commission's effort to shine a light on campaign finance in this state.

The rules are fairly straightforward.

Months on the Congressional campaign trail.... and Russell raised $30,000.

Don Benton, while running for the US Senate, raised that in a week.

Third, it's just as naughty to falsely report the date of a debt on a C-4.

Fourth, did you really believe you could list March debt on an April C-4 reported May 10th?

And finally, when you use those darn consultants, an itemization of their services are required.

Especially those consultants you're paying while they trash someone... or others... without mentioning, even in passing, that you're still paying them.

Yes, this is certainly the Jon Russell we all know and love.

Transparency? Fuggedaboutit. Clearly, we have a series of issues that call his competency into question; we have a series of actions that call his honesty into question; and we have a series of statements that certainly could tend make one believe that, well, he and the truth are often strangers.

ANOTHER in the never-ending series of Russell lies in letters to the editor.

Look. I get that Russell was a miserable failure as a congressional candidate. And that he can't raise money to save his life. But the lies he pumps out in his LTE's? Why, that's enough to make my cocker spaniel cough up a fur ball... and that ain't easy, given that he's a dog.

Here's some of his latest turds in the punch bowl.

"Russell will stand against federal mandates"

While getting his head caved in by Stacy Sellers, helpless and incompetent to do anything to keep Washougal city government on track, Russell couldn't even stand up to the blond grenade.

How anyone thinks this clown can stand up to "federal mandates" or, for that matter, the democrat Speaker of the House, Frank Chopp, is beyond mere mortal's comprehension.

Part of Russell's scam for avoiding responsibility for anything that happened in Washougal is based on his inability to do anything in the face of Seller's edicts:

The people responsible for that oversight are members of the city council. Three council members — Russell, Lou Peterson and Paul Greenlee — make up the finance committee tasked with approving city employees' and officials' receipts and spending.
The expenditures are first submitted to the finance department, and then go to the mayor for approval, Russell said. Each week, the mayor sends the finance committee members e-mails with the accounts payable receipts and statements for their review and approval, he (Russell) said. Sometimes the statements have details of specific charges, sometimes they only include the employee's name and how much they are to be reimbursed, Russell said. Unless the committee members ask to see the details of those reimbursements, oftentimes they don't know the specifics. And many times expenditures are approved as long as they fall within the amount included in the annual budget, he said.
Russell said he does not recall whether he saw details of the Las Vegas trip expenditures.
"It's not at all a perfect system," Russell said.

The committee members do not meet to discuss the expenditures; that practice ended several years ago in favor of council workshops, he said. Instead, members are told to go to Sellers with questions, Russell said.

"We have been told by the mayor not to talk to department heads to get answers, that everything has to go through her," he said.

The use of city money to purchase alcohol was questioned by the committee and reviewed earlier this summer by the city council. Sellers was notified that the practice was prohibited by city policy and she reimbursed the city for the cost of alcohol charges, Russell said. City officials were not available to comment on the amount of the reimbursement.

"She was under the impression for some reason that it was permissible," he said.
His usual incompetence aside: If he failed, and he DID fail, to stand up to Stacy Sellers... how can you expect him to stand up to anything else?

That would certainly require a level of courage that Russell has, so far, failed to show. Is he going to magically grow it now?

Sunday, June 20, 2010

Ahhhh.... Reliving the Russell - Bivens debacle.

One of the many reasons to vote for anyone else besides Jon Russell is his genetic inability to take responsibility for any of the train wreck that is Washougal City Government.

Apparently emasculated by Stacy Sellers disastrous reign, Russell was unable to do anything but go along with the alleged dictates of Ms. Sellers, which to hear Russell tell it, included requiring the city check book review to be signed off on without having been seen.

The result? $100,000 vaporized, and the hiring of an "unhirable" city finance director who was given a $45,835 check to leave.

• JEFFREY BIVENS, former Washougal finance director

Severance: Five months pay, payment for accrued vacation and reimbursed for payment of bond insurance.

Total cost: $45,835

Taking it a step further: This all happened on Russell's watch... with, of course, no responsibility to Russell.
Washougal’s ‘anomaly’

In Washougal, the firing of and subsequent settlement payment for Finance Director Jeffrey Bivens also caused a stir.

Bivens was the highest-paid employee at the time of his termination in December because the city had not yet replaced former City Administrator Nabiel Shawa, who quit in October.

Bivens’ contract entitled him to receive three months’ pay if he was fired with cause and six months’ pay if he was fired without cause. Bivens was to be paid a severance even if he was fired for misconduct.

Bivens, a former city councilman who only worked as finance director for seven months, was paid a $45,835 settlement, equal to five months’ pay. The city and Bivens could not come to an agreement as to whether Bivens was fired with or without cause, which is why the severance did not follow the stipulations of the contract. Bivens was terminated after he could not obtain a fidelity bond required by the city due to having his law license suspended.

Guard, who was not mayor when Bivens was hired, said Bivens’ contract did not follow the city’s department head manual, which outlines severance packages for all department heads and the city administrator.

“His was an anomaly that shouldn’t have happened,” Guard said. “Why would you pay someone who was fired for cause?”

When the city hired its current city administrator, David Scott, officials reverted back to the manual, Guard said. Scott will receive severance pay if he is fired or asked to resign and receives nothing if he is fired for misconduct or dereliction of duties.

“Everything in David’s contract goes back to the department head manual,” Guard said. “And that’s the way it should be. … Everyone we hire from here on out will do the same thing.”

You see, this debacle, along with the as-yet unfound $100,000 and the signed-off on expense reports of Ms. Sellers and Mr. Bivens on "city business" in Vegas do tend to show something of a pattern of incompetence, misfeasance (Or is it malfeasance? I always get them mixed up) on Mr. Russell's part.

What it doesn't show is any compelling reason to vote for him.

Does it?

Jon Russell and little kids at a parade.

So, just finished a parade. It was a nice one, as parades go. Even though the weather was fairly threatening, the rain held off and the crowd wasn't bad.

Our hero, Jon Russell was there. He brought something of a posse... that included a few little kids.

Our campaign had balloons. A lot of balloons.

As we were leaving the Fleetwood parking lot, one of the girls in our campaign walked by these kids, who asked her for some of the balloons.

So, because they were tiny little kids (2, 3, 4 or so... something like that) she gave them 9 balloons.

Russell, who hadn't thought of bringing balloons, proceeded to take them away from these little kids, release 6 of them into the air and had 3 put into the truck being used for the parade.

What the heck is up with that... taking balloons away from little kids?

Yeah... I know they had a logo from a campaign he's competing with... badly... but these were little kids who could care less about politics, and who shouldn't be used as campaign props.

They were balloons.

Imagine how cool it would have been if Russell had just allowed these little kids to keep the balloons (which they probably would have released soon, anyway.) Yeah, I know... they're from a competing campaign. But no one would have noticed it out in the street; and if they had, they'd have thought that it took a really great candidate to allow little kids (tiny kids) to keep balloons from another campaign.

But that didn't happen.

Wow.

So, in the 18th, who's breaking the law?

.
That's today's quiz question: who is filing on time for the Public Disclosure Commission and who isn't?

Well, let's take a look, shall we?

Filing C-3's (donation reports) were due on the 7th and 14th.

Who filed for those dates?

Well, Ann Rivers did. Brandon Vick did. Dennis Kampe KINDA did. But he missed his June 7 filing... and then got it in a little late. He filed a C-4 on June 7, but no C-3.

What about the rest of the candidates? Who's breaking the law?

Anthony Bittner? Check. He hasn't filed a thing since April 27th.

Jon Russell? Check. He was supposed to file C-3's on the 14th, according to this:

June 1 Begin filing C-3 reports weekly, each Monday, for deposits made during
previous 7 days (Monday thru Sunday)
Russell's filing manually in an effort to make it a little more difficult to find out that he's paying off congressional debt with state representative campaign funds... something of a definite no-no. And, of course, the second he's able to find enough suckers to get him up over $10,000, (You know, the same $10,000 he claimed to have already raised to the PCO's on May 22nd? THAT $10,000?) he's going to have to retroactively file his entire campaign electronically.

But then, Russell's never been one about true transparency, has he?

And where's his filing for the 14th?

No where.

Hiding things as a part of your campaign isn't all that great of a strategy. Paying for things with state funds that are prohibited for a federal race... also not cool.

Paying someone (Gary Wyram) to do hit pieces under the guise of disinterested bystander for We The People without him indicating that he's being paid to do it?

Typically Russell. And typically unethical and scummy.

So... why does Jon Russell want to get rid of every GOP Legislator in SW Washington?

I've got to wonder: Why does Jon Russell want to get rid of the following legislators?

Sen. Don Benton (R-17)
Sen. Joe Zarelli (R-18)
Sen. Jim Honeyford (R-15)

Rep. Ed Orcutt (R-18)
Rep. Richard DeBolt (R-20/House Republican Leader)
Rep. Bruce Chandler (R-15)
Rep. Gary Alexander (R-20)

Why?

Because if Russell has his way, they'd all be gone.

Good move.

NOT.

Russell sticks his foot in it... again.

So, Russell's at the candidate forum today put on by the Republican Women at Club Green Meadows, when he's asked: So... when you lose the election (Sorry... I meant "if" you lose the election) will you support Ann Rivers? (I mean, will you "support whoever the Republican candidate is?")

His moronic response?

"I will if they're pro-life."

Tell us, Jon... which Republican running in the 18th is NOT pro-life, eh?

No wonder that guy (and no, it wasn't me... but it should have been) hollered out "SCREW YOU!"

I had no idea you didn't believe that Brandon Vick wasn't pro-life, because you know damned well Ann Rivers is, more then you ever could be or even dream of.

Don't even think about going there.

ANOTHER lie by Russell? This time to lifepac.org?

Imagine my surprise as I reviewed his responses to read this garbage:
GAMING
12. A proposed casino off I-5 near Ridgefield is projected to be one of the largest in the nation. What is your position on the building of this casino?

I oppose the off reservation casino. As the Executive Director of Faith and Freedom Network, we were a part of the opposition coalition to stop the Cowlitz Casino. Tribal Casinos should be on reservation land.
To hear Russell tell it, while he was working with F and F, he single handidly accomplished everything.

Jon Russell has played absolutely zero role in that effort; nor has the Faith and Freedom Network played any role in any of the law suits or efforts to get the county commissioners to revoke the MOU.

In all the years I have personally worked on this issue (The last 6) I've never seen Jon Russell at any hearing held by the BIA, I've never saw him at any of the intergovernmental round tables held in the Spring of 2005; I've never seen him testify in front of or attend any LaCenter City Council meeting; I've never seen him attend Clark County Commissioner deliberations impacting this issue.

Gary Randall did some work on this issue as part of Citizens for a Healthy Clark County. But Russell had nothing to do with it.

While I agree with his perspective, I know that the most active candidate in opposition to this economic black hole was certainly not Jon Russell, who has had zero to do with keeping them out of here.

This all goes to the increasing pattern of Russell's lies and exaggerations, beginning with his lie about his wife being a "physician," his lie to the PCO's about how much money he had raised, and now about his efforts to stop the Cowlitz casino, a situation where he played absolutely no role.

When will the lies ever stop? Since Russell has and is lying to us now as a candidate; is it not reasonable to assume he'll lie to us in the unfortunate event he's elected?

Man: That Russell and his canned letters... a real yuk fest.

I stumbled across this steaming pile in the LTE's to the Columbian today:

Russell will protect states’ rights

Obamacare is coming to Washington state and we need someone in the state Legislature who will stand against the federal mandates handed down. That is why I am supporting Jon Russell for state representative from the 18th Legislative District, Position 1.

Russell is the owner of a family medical practice and he will take a constitutional approach to protecting our freedoms. Too many politicians compromise on big issues like health care. Russell will reduce the size of government and stand with us during the difficult times ahead.

Joshua Barton

Vancouver

This is the same Jon Russell that couldn't even stand up to Stacy Sellers concerning how Washougal was being run... and this poor idjit sends out a bogus, obviously written for him letter by Russell telling us how Russell will stand against ANYTHING?

Since when?

Remember how he was such a whiny punk when people started asking "What about Russell" when the incompetence of the Washougal city council became such public knowledge? You know, the $100,000 vaporized? The approval of Sellers Las Vegas T-Bar receipts and the like?

And THAT'S how he's going to "stand up" for us?

No, Thanks. Cretin level representation was bad enough when it was from Herrera. Compound the error with Russell?

You're kidding.... right?

So, back in May.... why did Jon Russell lie to the PCO's about the money?

Earlier, I smacked Brandon Vick for lying to the PCO's at the District 18 meeting on 22 May about how much money he had raised to that point. He had claimed he'd raised $8100 when records he submitted showed he had raised $6000 in cash and in kinds or so at the time of the meeting... overstating the amount he had by a third or so.

That leads me to Jon Russell. Russell had already told us his wife was a "physician," which is completely untrue. So, the moment he told the PCO's that he had $10,000, I knew he was lying... again. But lacking the proof, you've got to let it go... which I did... until today.

According to the records provided by Russell, who for whatever the reason continues to file manually instead of electronically, Russell had raised $5421 in cash and in-kinds at the end of the last filing period: May 10 for April.

Now, when it comes to cash for this race, Russell shows that he's raised

March - $3125
April - $1496
May - $2031 (+597 from himself)

$6652 (plus, of course, the 597 from himself.)

He has raised, he claims, $9024 in cash and in kinds.

Now, at the time of the meeting when he'd claimed he'd raised $10,000, the record he'd submitted shows that he had raised $1445 or so in addition to what he was showing at the last reporting period: $5421 in cash and in kinds.

So, when he claimed that he had raised this mythical $10,000, he had, in fact, raised closer to $6900 or so... overstating the amount he'd raised to the PCO's by roughly 40% or so.

Why?

His congressional campaign proved beyond any doubt how badly he sucked at raising money; that ability hasn't magically improved. Jon, you suck at raising money.

Why lie about it, especially to your own PCO's?

What do Jon "My wife's a physician" Russell and Tim "The Liar" Leavitt have in common?

They both want the bridge, neither care about tolls, and they want light rail.

The Liar made his position clear: No bridge tolls.

Except, of course, unless the bridge has to have tolls... then they're OK, because, as The Liar tells us, he's "not an obstructionist."

Of course, anyone paying attention knows that the bridge will not be built WITHOUT tolls... so what that means is that Leavitt wants the bridge, which won't be built without loot rail... and as a result, in reality, he wants tolls, since there ain't gonna be a bridge without them.

That brings us to Jon Russell, who has been known to pander on occasion.

Russell told the Columbian editorial board that he wants the bridge... but that he doesn't want tolls, either.

Were have we heard that before?

And, of course, Russell is not above pandering to the editorial board. After all, they support the massive waste of billions of dollars as much as he does; they don't care that the unnecessary replacement of the bridge will blow a $100,000,000 per year hole in our local economy by vacuuming out moneys that would otherwise be spent here; and they supported the massive tax increase of the Port Levy that Russell was paid thousands of dollars to try and ram down our throats.

Given his lies to date, there is no doubt he would say or do anything to abandon the voters of Washougal. But keeping this little secret under the table?

Well, that's why *I'M* here... isn't it?

So, 18th District there you have it. Jon Russell doesn't give a damn if you have to pay $1300 per year in addition to the horrific taxes you already pay just to go to work.

Remember that when you're filling out your ballot, won't you? I know *I* will.

Look, I know that Jon has a vivid imagination, but these canned letters to the editor? Please.

.
These things are popping up like a recurring skin disease.

Yeah, Russell does have a proven track record.

Whenever Jon Russell makes this bizarre claim that he is not a career politician, he's lying.

Along with that, he has a proven track record of questionable competence. A proven track record of getting paid thousands by the Port in their effort to jack our taxes up in the highest local property tax increase in our history. A proven track record of using the Constitution as a campaign prop, just like has used his horrific tenure as a Washougal city councilman as a campaign prop.

Washougal is a train wreck thanks in part to Russell, and he's bailing out as fast as he can; first with a miserable campaign for Congress, and now in an equally miserable campaign for state representative, abandoning the poor suckers who voted for him in the last election where he was running for two offices at the same time.

So, there you go. If you want a proven track record of lying, if you want a proven track record of support for massive tax increases, if you want a proven track record of malfeasance, if you want a proven track record of avoiding responsibility, if you want a career politician, if you want to support someone who called me to ask for an opponent's social security number so he could use that information to hurt them... then Russell is you guy.

Odd that none of his supporters talk about that, isn't it?

As of this writing, there are exactly 8 candidates running in the 18th District House: Who was in Woodland last night?

.
Out on the campaign trail, I've heard so much about illegal aliens. Many of these candidates make several claims about what they'd do about it, and many mention it on their websites.

Just wondering: out of all these candidates... many of them so-called conservatives... who showed up at Woodland last night?

Arguably the highest profile issue confronting us lately... and who showed up to hear the concerns directly from the people and one of the governments in the district?

I know. Do you?

Man, when Russell lies... he goes whole hog!

Having sat in the group where Russell spoke only to hear him lie about his wife's job (No Jon, she's not a "physician," she is, instead, a "physician's assistant,") I know the guy is fully capable of lying, but this is a beaut:

While babbling about some endorsement or another from people who obviously don't know him, Russell was quoted thusly:
“I am honored to receive this endorsement. Eagle Forum is confronting the social & fiscal challenges of our day with conservative ideas and values that I believe in wholeheartedly," said Jon Russell.
Do these poor people know about your lies? Do they know your using your current position on the Washougal City Council as a campaign prop?
Do they know about your involvement in the campaign FOR one of the, if not THE biggest tax increases in local history for the Port, money their E.D. said they didn't even need?

Do they know that you and two others were in charge of the Washougal credit card review when Sellers abused them so badly, to little or no known complaint from you until the lid blew off?

Do they know that you were siting on the city council of Washougal while $100,000 vaporized?

Do they know that as a city council member, YOU were involved in hiring a questionable finance director?

Do they know you, personally, are doing everything you can, which has included missing votes on city council, to get another gig and ditch the people who elected you, in the midst of your congressional campaign, to another term?
Fake conservatism and dishonorable conduct such as yours isn't anything *I* would endorse you for, and that these people seems to be (I'll be emailing them to find out for sure, since their website doesn't mention you) and so they'll have a little more information to make an informed decision on endorsements.

You see, Jon, "conservatism" isn't something you put ion and take off like a jacket. Instead, it's something you wear all the time. And no true conservative would keep these people in the dark about your whole package... and not just the parts you want them to know about.

Tah!

That Jon Russell... he's SUCH a kidder!

I'm seeing this nonsensical crap that Jon Russell isn't a "career politician," and that he "supports term limits."

Well, let's take a look at the record, shall we? I'll boldface everything involving politics.

Biography

Jon Russell, his wife Sarah and their two daughters live in Washougal, WA. Together, Jon and Sarah are owners of Columbia Gorge Medical Center, an urgent and family care clinic. Jon is a proven innovator in healthcare reform. Columbia Gorge Medical Center has developed and is piloting a system for providing basic healthcare to uninsured patients by utilizing the resources of the Salvation Army & other similar non-profit organizations.

Jon was appointed to the Washougal City Council in 2006, elected in 2007 and re-elected in 2009. He serves as Mayor Pro Tem and he serves on the code & policy review committee. Jon’s legislative accomplishments include cutting property taxes, enacting e-Verify for city contracts and consistently protecting private property rights.

Jon’s experience in politics started as he was working on his degree in political science first at Vincennes University and finally at Thomas Edison State College in Trenton, NJ. Jon’s first political involvement was as Deputy Campaign Manager for U.S. Congressman John Hostettler in Indiana’s 8th Congressional District. Later Jon went on to work for the Indiana House Republican Campaign Committee and in 2004 as Southwest Washington Campaign Director for the House Republican Organizational Committee. He also served as Executive Director of Faith & Freedom Network.

Jon’s community involvement includes the Board of Directors for the Washougal Schools Foundation, Board of Directors of the Camas-Washougal Chamber of Commerce, Founder of the East Clark County Technology Summit, and Leadership Board for the Washougal Salvation Army. He is a member of both the National Rifle Association & the Columbia Land Trust.

At the age of 34, Jon is a proven elected official, business owner & community leader. His legislative priorities are small business & job development, access to affordable & private health care and eliminating unfunded mandates on counties and cities, which drive up taxes.

So there you have it. Jon is the career politician he now so roundly condemns.

And as for this:
Jon was appointed to the Washougal City Council in 2006, elected in 2007 and re-elected in 2009. He serves as Mayor Pro Tem and he serves on the code & policy review committee. Jon’s legislative accomplishments include cutting property taxes, enacting e-Verify for city contracts and consistently protecting private property rights.
ALL of it was done entirely because he's using his current elected position as a campaign prop for first, his miserable run for Congress; and second, his equally miserable run for his fall back position. state representative.

And, to the people of Washougal, the one thing you can know for sure is this: Jon Russell, who helped make the mess you're city is in, is now doing everything he can to ditch you before he fixes it.

Of course, in his bio, he's also left out the fact that he's repeatedly lied about his wife's job, even lied about me, and that he was a consultant who earned thousands of dollars trying to jack up our taxes for the Port Commission. He's also failed to address his incompetence on the Washougal City Council But all of that is beside the point: Jon Russell has been a career politician. He will always BE a career politician. And now, we can add this lie to the growing collection.
