(Don't blame me, I tried to warn you!)Wow.

The people of Culpeper generally and the Virginia Police Benevolent Association are sure learning their lesson.

But folks, please don't blame me... I tried to warn you.

Russell is one of those "say anything, do anything" to get elected types of pols that give politics it's horrific name.

This is no exception.
Virginia Police Benevolent Association (VPBA) Executive Director Sean
McGowan’s June 26 letter, on behalf of Culpeper’s 90-member PBA chapter,
to Russell reminded him of promises he made while seeking the PBA’s
endorsement during the May 2014 town council election.
The letter questioned Russell’s recent views and published media
comments regarding the town’s lawsuit against Culpeper Commonwealth’s
Attorney Megan Frederick for her refusal to prosecute any cases
involving Culpeper Officer Matt Haymaker.

The Culpeper chapter of the PBA endorsed Russell’s election bid, along
with two other council candidates, Keith Price and Pranas Rimeikis. All
three PBA-endorsed candidates won seats on the nine-member town council.

On June 12, the local PBA chapter sent thank you letters to Mayor
Michael Olinger and seven other council members for sending the May 15
letter to Frederick in support of Haymaker and asking Frederick to
reconsider her refusal to prosecute Haymaker’s cases. Russell, who was
out of town on business at the time the letter was circulated for
signatures, said he would “probably” have signed the letter that the
eight other council members signed.

However, Russell publicly opposed the filing of the town’s lawsuit.

This very blog is full of a history that proves Russell shouldn't be elected dog catcher. I tried to warn the good people of the community of Culpeper that this guy was a master manipulator and that he was just using you all as a step to bigger and better things... just like he tried to with the people of Washougal, WA, the last community Russell did so much to screw up.

Ahhh, yes. Jon Russell.

Years ago, when he finally ditched Washougal
under a cloud of scandal, political failure and disastrous
congressional/state representative campaigning, Russell pulled up stakes
and inflicted himself on the unsuspecting town of Culpeper, VA.

He
started ingratiating himself on the political scene, using an issue
concerning moving city council elections to November to get himself name
familiarity.

I pegged it, of course: the moment I
started hearing about the scam to move the election dates, I knew it was
just Russell using a bunch of rubes to increase his name familiarity so
HE could run for office.

I, of course, steadfastly
maintain my abhorrence of Russell being anywhere in my government.
Russell, naturally, wants to be all of those things he could never be
over here.

I started a long range campaign to educate people to the true Jon Russell, using
the fact set put together at the Jon Russell Watch blog.
Unfortunately, I started a couple of weeks too late, and Russell fooled
enough people to actually get elected by a small margin.

I regret I didn't start earlier. that's a mistake I won't make again.

I pointed out to the fair people of Culpeper that Russell was just using them. He is not interested in Culpeper any more than he was interested in Washougal, beyond using them as a stepping stone.

So, I wasn't terribly surprised when I received this yesterday:
Russell
is also a rather fake Christian, as it turns out. An almost psychotic
liar who made up fake identities to talk to himself (pat himself on the
back) and attack others in the democratian's comment section and on facebook... so insecure that he ultimately lied about his education with fake college degrees...

Even
with this garbage, he wants people to believe that whatever decision he
implements (and that decision has long since been made, the Lord's
intercession notwithstanding) that it was somehow divinely inspired
when, in fact, it was inspired by his non-Christian, coldly calculating
political self-flagellating mentality.

My
understanding of "divine guidance" is that it's... well... "divine."
Nothing that us mere mortals will say, or think, or request.... will
change it one iota.

Russell knows that: so why would be
trowel out this kind of nonsense to cover a decision he's made that
will, no doubt, require him to move out from the little people of Culpeper?

A different job (Has ALEC fired him yet?) some sort of political appointment... running for some bigger office?

No matter. It's all about Russell to Russell. And you can bet that "God told me to do it" will be a part of that package.

Keeping in mind the fact that Russell could care less for Culpeper, save for how quickly he can launch his ever-upward political career, Jon is beginning to show his true self... as he inevitably does to everyone watching.

Here's another example I just received from someone in the Culpeper community that is just... just... so JON!

Mr. Russell and I met in a volunteer political organization wherein he and I got along rather swimmingly (he even helped me find some lodging at the time for a meeting). That said he and I exchanged political viewpoints over a couple of years me being a Green Moderate, him being a Zionist Libertarian.

Being I considered this man to be an acquaintance (even hinging on a mentor/protegee relationship at times), I've watched his career closely never supporting him (politically) but always giving him some sense of support. One thing I enjoyed about his political platform was his notion of transparency in government proceedings (this is one of his BIG things). On an occasion (I don't recall the exact date), he posted a status to the effect of saying special interest (in government) was a bad thing.

Being I am a student and filled to the brim with all curiosity, I asked him what constituted a 'special interest.' I gave references that a monetary, religious, or even political gain might be construed as special interest (all politics is ultimately bribery in some form). He responded that this was not the case and that I 'would know it when I saw it [special interest].' I pride myself on my ability reason and implored him further so that I might recognize special interest when I encountered it. He told me it was a thing only a politician would understand. I asked him a third time: what is special interest?

Unfortunately, Mr. Russell proceeded to not only unfriend me from Facebook but also block me. This is not only insulting (since Mr. Russell was implying I was too dim to understand special interest) but is also extremely immature. By blocking me, Mr. Russell has exposed his cowardice and acknowledged his inability to reason. As politician who supported transparency in government, Mr. Russell revealed himself as a hypocrite not being able to answer my question: what constitutes special interest?

My hope is that Mr. Russell will apologize and attempt to rectify his mistakes if not for his sake but for that of his children. If this site proves anything, it is that he has hurt quite a few people, and a smart man might take it as a sign to learn a thing or to.

I would suggest the poster not hold his breath. A man who deems himself incapable of fault is not likely to ever acknowledge it.

And that is this man.

The director of the American City County Exchange (ACCE), Jon Russell, has been described as a "divisive" local government official, better known for pushing a national anti-immigrant agenda than for serving local interests and his constituents. ACCE's first meeting will coincide with ALEC's Annual Meeting in Dallas, Texas this week.

The creation of ACCE comes as national corporate and ideological interests increasingly try to exert influence over municipal government. For example, over the past year, David Koch's Americans for Prosperity has spent money on the mayoral race in Coralville, Iowa, the Board of Supervisors election in Iron County, Wisconsin, and school board elections in Douglas County, Colorado and Kenosha, Wisconsin.

ACCE is not expected to spend money in local elections, but its role could be viewed as providing the policy counterpart to electoral spending by the Kochs and others.

Early reports suggests that ACCE will pursue similar policy objectives as ALEC. According toThe Guardian, "An early draft of the agenda for [the] meeting revealingly listed ACCE’s very first workshop under the simple title: 'Privatization' – though in the final version the wording had been sanitized into: 'Effective Tools for Promoting Limited Government'." Privatization has been a long term goal for many ALEC member firms, and ALEC model bills have called for the creation of a special state commission to privatize public services. Other ALEC bills call for the privatization of Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, public schools, state pensions and more. Another workshop at the inaugural ACCE meeting is titled "Releasing Local Governments From the Grip of Collective Bargaining," which fits into ALEC's long-standing antipathy towards unions.

"ACCE is just another effort to rig our democracy"

ACCE also largely mirrors the structure, goals, and funding stream of its parent organization.

Its membership includes elected officials and corporate lobbyists, both of whom will have a say in approving "model" policy for the elected officials to introduce back home. According to ACCE's promotional materials, a benefit for corporate members is that it "enables business leaders to provide industry insights during policy creation."

Like ALEC, ACCE's funding appears comes almost entirely from its corporate members. Local elected officials are asked to pay just $100 for a two year membership, where corporate members pay between $10,000 and $25,000.

Some are skeptical of ALEC's newfound commitment to local control. For years, ALEC has pushed state-level preemption bills to prohibit local governments from enacting policies like paid sick days, a higher minimum wage, municipal broadband, or limits on GMOs, all of which would benefit ALEC's corporate members.

Given this history, many local officials aren't buying that ALEC and ACCE are looking out for the best interests of their constituents, as opposed to the interests of ACCE's corporate funders.

“ALEC and ACCE aren't about implementing a set of right-wing policies, they are about moving corporate America's agenda," Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges told the Center for Media and Democracy.

ACCE Director Described as "Divisive" and as a "Lightning Rod"

ALEC -- which has pushed "Stand Your Ground" legislation, voter ID restrictions, and prison privatization -- is no stranger to controversy. Neither is the new director of ACCE, Jon Russell. Russell describes himself as the "founder" of ACCE, although it is a project of ALEC and he is an ALEC employee.

Russell was on the city council of Washougel,[sic] Washington from 2006 until 2012, when he resigned his office for a position with Students for Life of America, an anti-abortion group based in Manassas, Virginia.

During his tenure on the Washougel[sic] City Council, Russell was described by The Columbian newspaper as "one of Clark County's most divisive governmental figures" and "a lightning rod, to say the least."

Russell "brought national causes to city government and backed conservative challengers against veteran council members in the 2011 elections," The Columbian wrote. Among other things, Russell introduced a resolution in support of Arizona's controversial immigration law, SB 1070, which many suspected was designed to boost his ultimately unsuccessful run for state office.

He also made his share of enemies. The former Executive Director of the Washington Republican Party set up a blog to track what he perceived as Russell's misdeeds, which ranged from setting up fake usernames to post comments on news articles to taking balloons from children.

Upon Russell's departure from Washougel,[sic] fellow councilman Paul Greenlee said he hoped his replacement would be more focused on local issues. "When they come into city hall, they need to be focused on Washougal, not on some agenda."

When Russell ran for office two years later on the other side of the country in Culpepper, Virginia, Washougel[sic] residents tried to warn voters.

"As a former resident of the town Jon [Russell] served on during his term, I wouldn't let him near a leadership position of my town ever again," commented Washougel[sic] resident Greg Evans on a Culpepper article.

"Russell's commitment is to himself," wrote K.J. Hinton. "Russell was using his city council seat as a launching pad for higher office. Fortunately for us all, his abysmal congressional campaign was a complete failure, as was his fall back campaign for State Representative... where, had he won either, I would have found myself in the unfortunate position of being a constituent. Clearly, he was no longer interested in being a city councilman, and towards the end of his tenure, he missed the majority of meetings that he was supposed to attend."

Despite Russell's spotty history as a local elected official, he insists that his group ACCE has the solution for making local government better. We'll see.

For the record, I've got no more problem with the Kochs than these leftists have with George Soros.

Nor do I engage in a double-standard like leftists typically do: if I had a problem with money in politics I'd have a problem with it no matter WHERE it came from, left OR right.

But even now, Russell has to be fake: He HAS to claim this:

ALEC -- which has pushed "Stand Your Ground" legislation, voter ID restrictions, and prison privatization -- is no stranger to controversy. Neither is the new director of ACCE, Jon Russell. Russell describes himself as the "founder" of ACCE, although it is a project of ALEC and he is an ALEC employee.

See, that's the kind of thing that keeps me working to keep Russell out of government.

He has no problem doing this sort of thing, over and over and over. But who, with integrity, would make such claims to blow himself up in importance as if this plan WERE his idea?

I know you're reading this, Jon. And I'm watching. And next time you run for anything, I'm just going to work that much harder to make sure you don't win.

By winning this campaign... barely... Jon is now fixated on his next campaign and he will begin the process of using his city council seat to build up a resume' for leaving your fair town.

That is the modis operandi for Russell, who no more wants to stay in your fair burg and be a city councilman than he wants to be vaporized by Martians.

Expect the grandstanding, the efforts to spread his influence (Like the scam he ran by moving the city council elections to November) and expect him to engage in the kind of things he can put on his campaign literature, because remember this: like Obama, he takes credit for everything good that happens (As if it were a one-person city government) and takes absolutely no responsibility for anything bad that happens.

While I have warned you, the people of the fair city of Culpeper, I didn't start early enough. But by his election, you'll find out exactly what a self-absorbed, narcissistic snake oil salesman you've hired.

Soon... very soon... he will try and ditch you folks like he did Washougal. And next time he runs... this blog will still be here, and I'll try much harder to warn the electorate.

Because his next stop is your state capital if he can swing it... and then DC after that.

And THE last thing *I* want is THAT man in MY government.

Remember Jon, I'll be watching. In the internet age, it'll be much like I moved in next door.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-24947978374108931782014-05-06T18:30:00.001-07:002014-05-06T18:30:47.025-07:00Russell apparently won.Which is OK, I guess, since he's not in my government.

But this blog will be waiting here when he ditches Culpeper to move on to his next try at elective office... and he leaves Culpeper in his rear view mirror... just like he did Washougal.

They'll be sorry.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-53695836906390569812014-05-05T17:27:00.000-07:002014-05-05T20:49:31.164-07:00Russell sets you up for his election:"Here's why I'm asking for your vote."There's only one reason why this clown has waited all of two years to run for city council in Culpeper after using the movement of the city council election to raise his profile:

It's because he's using you.

He lists a great many reasons... and each and every one of them is designed to tell you what you want to hear... but not to tell you the truth.

The truth is that he will ditch you as fast as possible for bigger and better things... just like he did in Washougal, WA.

In 2010, this clown ran for Congress in Washington State's 3rd District. And when that fell apart, he switched to state representative where he managed to get 20% of the vote in the primary.

He had a bunch of people say the same things about him then that they are saying about him now. But they left out the lies about his education, the lies about his fake identity... even the lies about his wife being a doctor.

So, in the end, this isn't about you, people of Culpeper... it's about him. And make no mistake... he is definitely using YOU to get what HE wants... and that's as far away from YOU as possible, as fast as possible.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-25114985765219826022014-05-05T16:37:00.001-07:002014-05-05T16:37:28.351-07:00700 views... will it make a difference? In addition to his other skills, Jon Russell appears to be a coward.

He's been complaining to Facebook about my posts under his canned garbage that his people have been flooding your local media with over the past couple of weeks. Facebook has removed some of them, even though they are true.

But cowardice and dishonesty is his meme.

Around 700 of you from the Culpeper area have visited this blog. Will it make a difference? I don't know.

But what I do know is that he is the worst that politics has to offer. I've been involved in politics for the past 26 years, including holding down the seat of the Executive Director of the Washington State Republican Party in 2000.

And this guy represents the worst of the lot.

Read this blog. Do it carefully. See for yourself how he lies and uses others... just like he wants to use you as a stepping stone to higher office... just like he tried... and failed... to use the people and the town of Washougal in 2010.

Unfortunately, your town is no different.

Vote for him if you like. But when he uses you... don't be surprised. Jon Russell or his people are doing all they can to keep the word from getting out.

Copy this link http://jonrussellwatch.blogspot.com and share with as many people you know to get the truth out about Russell.

He is not the best choice for city council or any other elective office And this blog documents all of it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-15566007013584328712014-05-04T16:17:00.001-07:002014-05-04T16:17:42.494-07:00Russell snivels again: Local police union endorses that moron, I call them on it: now I'm blocked from Facebook for 24 hours.

Look, I get that Russell hates his past. It really does suck to be him. It really does suck to have a history of using people and groups while you act like you really give a damn about them... when we know you don't.

Somehow, he scammed an endorsement from the local cop's union... not that he should want a union endorsement being a conservative and all.

But when I called him... and them... on endorsing someone like Russell, writing this:

Given the evidence against him and his history in Washougal, I'm surprised that anyone would endorse him.

Http://jonrussellwatch.blogspot.com has the lowdown.

That may not have been it word-for-word, but it was something like this.

This was the second time I know of that our little weasel has whined about being confronted with the truth.

He should embrace it. After all, I understand it will set you free.

Right , Jon?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-39293034600824912192014-05-02T08:19:00.000-07:002014-05-02T08:21:12.393-07:00Russell gets stung: had a facebook post of mine removed for "violating community standards." Here's my response. This was posted on the article where Jon wrote a letter, had Sarah sign it and the newspaper printed it.

I responded with the truth, and Russell really isn't all that big on the truth.

For whatever the reason, the following post was removed due to a claim it "violated community standards."

It doesn't, of course: first, it's true and second, I can document it.

Jon Russell has a history of using fake facebook accounts and identities to attack others politically.. Sarah Russell, his wife who now wants you to vote for this guy who has lived all of two years in your community and who, of course, inly wants to use this city council position as a stepping stone for higher office, sent me the following email

Sarah Russell said...

I'm sure no one will believe anything I have to say on the topic, but I promised someone that if I had the time and energy, I would jump on an refute any known fallacies on this blog. SO, Here's for one: Jon Russell may have used aliases and fake names in the past but has not commented, blogged or otherwise produced written material under any fake names for over 6 months. I personally have no idea who these fake names belong to, but I have to refute the false allegations. I know it must come as a shock to some that there might be other persons out their using fake names and disliking this or that political figure, but I'm breaking the news now: there must be! Thanks for letting me set the record straight.

Sarah Russell

This does not "attack" anyone. It's used as a fact: that Russell's own wife verifies that he uses fake names and identities, but in Sarah's mind, he had done that for 6 months... which, unfortunately, was not true.

Relaying this information, since it is absolutely true, doesn't violate anything.

So when a candidate is an unknown, I Google, and that has led to some troubling questions. First, does Jon view elected office as a commitment? Or will he quit before his term is up here too? And second, a couple of sites reference allegations that $100k went missing while Jon was chair of the finance council in Washougal. Can Jon provide an explanation for the allegations that this happened under his watch, and provide assurances that our hard-earned dollars that we pay in taxes will be safe? Hi David, Thanks for giving me a forum to answer your questions. I am always available to answer any question over the phone. You can find my number on my website at www.jonrussell.us Let me take your questions one at a time.

1.) First, does Jon view elected office as a commitment? Or will he quit before his term is up here too?

Answer: It most definitely is a commitment. I was twice elected to council and in the middle of my second term I was offered a job in Virginia. After 8 years in Washington this gave me an opportunity to be closer to my mom and dad so we took the opportunity. When there are children involved I think you can appreciate the need for them to know their grandparents. I was honored that my city gave me an award for 6 years of service upon my departure.

2.) A couple of sites reference allegations that $1...00k went missing while Jon was chair of the finance council in Washougal. Can Jon provide an explanation for the allegations that this happened under his watch, and provide assurances that our hard-earned dollars that we pay in taxes will be safe?

Answer: I think you are referring to blog sites set up by a political consultant of one of my former primary opponents. It's unfortunate that people have to resort to negative politics by establishing websites that spread personal anger through distortion. In regards to the 100k, you may want to reference my former colleagues letter to the editor in the Culpeper Times. Our former mayor was accused by state auditors of mishandling 100k in revenue generated from an event she put on in the city. When investigators could not find the money, I called for her resignation and she resigned.

3.) And third, will he promise to focus on town issues, and not just use this as a way to get noticed on the bigger stage?

Answer: As I stated in the Culpeper Chamber candidates forum. the town needs to focus on the things we have control over and not political issues on the state and federal level. When we get into those kinds of political issues, no one wins. I have been apart of bringing national issues on the local level, and I learned I was wrong in doing so.

David, I am open to answer any questions, I have an open door for anyone who wants information. I hope this gives you the answers you need. <a class="see_more_link" data-ft="{"tn":"e"}" href="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/comments.php?api_key=366214100134806&channel_url=http%3A%2F%2Fstatic.ak.facebook.com%2Fconnect%2Fxd_arbiter%2FdgdTycPTSRj.js%3Fversion%3D40%23cb%3Df1de7d6fe03a71b%26domain%3Dwww.dailyprogress.com%26origin%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.dailyprogress.com%252Fff7da911f3d58%26relation%3Dparent.parent&href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailyprogress.com%2Ftncms%2Fasset%2Feditorial%2Fb731d722-cb99-11e3-8324-0017a43b2370%2F&locale=en_US&numposts=10&sdk=joey&width=400#" role="button">See More

Russell's commitment is to himself. In 2010, he ran two campaigns for two different offices. When the congressional campaign fell apart, he then got clobbered running for state representative.

Russell was using his city council seat as a launching pad for higher office. Fortunately for us all, his abysmal congressional campaign was a complete failure, as was his fall back campaign for State Representative... where, had he won either, I would have found myself in the unfortunate position of being a constituent. Clearly, he was no longer interested in being a city councilman, and towards the end of his tenure, he missed the majority of meetings that he was supposed to attend.

As much as I appreciate Councilman Shoemaker's position on Russell, that changes none of the facts of the matter.

The $100K went missing on Russell's watch as a member of the city finance committee. That's not an issue of motive on my part; that's an issue of fact.

The money has never been found.

These are facts. He says one thing and does another. History has a way of repeating itself... and people get the government they deserve. This is one of those cases.
Interesting choice of words, that. "Cyber blitz" infers that I'm peppering the community with links to this blog or something... taking out ads, doing talk radio... financing any of Russell's opponents.

Not true. Some from the Culpeper area have emailed me and I've provided answers to their questions: I've also left the Russell Watch blog up as a community service because, frankly, there are two Jon Russells: the real one detailed here... and the one the people of Culpeper see in campaign mode.

I have no dog in the fight: Russell intends to use the city council gig as some sort of stepping stone to higher office, just like he tried... and failed so miserably... to do here, with a horrific run for Congress and a failed fall-back campaign for State Representative.

So, if the people of Culpeper want to be used as a tool, that's entirely up to them. But they won't be able to say it was because they didn't know better... because this blog lays it all out.

Electing Russell is a true example of getting the government they deserve. If that's their choice, then they'll have to live with it.

At least until Russell dumps them for bigger and better things.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-79771223017358216722014-02-20T11:55:00.001-08:002014-02-20T11:55:47.051-08:00FAQ: The growing list of reasons to vote against Jon Russell.(This post will remain at the top of the post list until after Russell is defeated in the primary.
The fact is, and this blog makes no bones about it, I despise Jon Russell.

It has been my misfortune to have known Russell for 10 years on a professional level.

Back in 2004, I was consulting on a local House campaign when the House Republican Organizational Committee foisted Russell on us. He was fresh out of the Midwest... and he proved to be an unmitigated disaster.

It got so bad that we demanded, and HROC acquiesced, to keeping this guy away from the campaign.

The entirety of the relationship between Russell and myself is summed up in my second phone call from Russell, where he asked me if I had our campaign opponent's social security number.

I didn't have it. I didn't want it. And if I DID have it, I wouldn't have given it to him.

But that he would even ask me for such a thing? That's set the tone for the years that have followed.

Make no mistake about it: this guy is the prototype of the career politician.

Everything he's done has been aimed at getting elected... to something. Every position held? A campaign prop.

Right now, he has a pregnant wife that he will cheerfully leave behind with an infant and two toddlers as he's playing the big shot... first in DC, until it became even obvious to him that his congressional campaign was DOA, something I had known for months; and now in Olympia.

What kind of man would do that?

The kind of man that would ask for someone's social security number to do them harm.

The kind of man who would send out canned letters as part of a campaign ploy, acting as if they were spontaneous expressions for support of this clown.

The kind of man who would deny any responsibility for the debacle of Washougal City Government that HE, PERSONALLY, is responsible for.

The kind of man who would deny us the right to choose our own candidates, and who, were he to get his way, deny us the right to vote for people like Joe Zatrelli, Ed Orcutt, Don Benton, Marc Boldt and Tom Mielke.

The kind of man who would lie to others about the role he's played in working to stop the Cowlitz Casino.

These are many of the reasons I oppose his candidacy. He has a history of tossing others under a bus, lying about others, exaggerating his own accomplishments and denigrating those opposing him... quite unnecessarily.

And THAT is what WE should have representing US?

I think not.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-56369988944647682552014-02-20T11:47:00.002-08:002014-02-20T11:47:20.368-08:00Culpeper residents are starting to pay attention to Jon Russell.Several months ago, I concluded that Jon Russell was going to bring
that same brand of dishonest, self-aggrandizing, lying politics to Culpeper, VA that he displayed here.

First, I am not a part of any campaign. I'm not getting paid by anyone to do this... Folks can just call it a community service.

I
knew Russell was, at some point, going to get stupid and run for some
other office... which is why I decided to keep his blog up, detailing
his lack of honesty, integrity, mental issues and the bizarre
combination of lying about himself to make him bigger in the eyes of
others, and his major insecurities that, in fact, cause him to lie...
even when he doesn't have to.

yesterday, I received 4 emails from residents wanting to know about this guy. Numbers on the blog are climbing, fast.

Today,
I'll be working on a FAQ to answer most of their questions. I will be
doing any5thing I legally can to make sure this guy isn't elected to dog
catcher.

And this blog will be the clearing house for that.

For
those reading this entry, my opposition to Russell is based on knowing
him for the past 10 years or so, and watching him lie to get what he
wants... and what he wants is frequently not what the people want.

Those
wondering why I would care, since he's on the other side of the
country, need to understand that I don't want Jon Russell anywhere in
government generally and MY government particularly.

His efforts at getting elected to a city council have nothing to do with his care or concern of the city in question: it's all about a stepping stone to higher office.

This guy used his seat on the Washougal
city council as a prop for his abysmal, failed congressional run and
his subsequent disaster of a race for state representative.

This guy doesn't give a damn about Culpeper
except in so far as what that community can do to enhance his chances
at higher political office. And if you don't believe that, just ask
him... and he'll have to tell you if he's still doing that fake
Christian thing.

This blog chronicles this guys self-aggrandizement, lies and distortions used to harm others. Expect the same as he tried to rebuild his political empire over in your backyard.

More today or tomorrow. Thanks for coming by.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-8427756086583465732014-02-11T11:53:00.002-08:002014-02-11T12:02:01.851-08:00Russell starting his push for his Culpeper run: knows it all.Jon Russell has always (mistakenly) thought himself to be the smartest guy in the room no matter where he is: and the poor blighters in the City of Culpeper are no exception.

See, in Jon's world, everyone else is wrong, and he's right... particularly if he wants to get elected to something.

Well, if Culpeper is interested in electing a divider instead of a uniter; an ego-maniac who sees this as yet another stepping stone to higher office at their expense (much like he tried... and failed miserably, here) then Russell is their guy.

Good luck with that.

Here's his latest ego trips:
For an extended period of time (several months), Jon Russell had been skipping

was an elected Washougal City Councilman.

No longer.

Jon Russell has finally done what he SHOULD have done months ago, and left
the city council.

Here's my review of his political tenure:

The Columbian referred to Russell's time on the council as
"controversial."

That's much like accurately describing the editors of the Columbian and their
editorial page as "leftist." While correct as a label, it really doesn't come
close to a complete description, nor does it lend itself to the flavor of a
pattern of immaturity, deceit and dishonesty that marked Russell's campaigns and
his use of Washougal as a prop on his way up the political ladder.

I first met Russell after he'd come out here back in '04 to handle the SW
Washington area HROC gig... which was his first disaster. In '04, then Rep. Jim
Dunn (R-17) had been given a kind of "persona-non-gratia" status by Republican
Leader Rep. Richard DeBolt (R-20) and Russell's marching orders were to defeat
him in the primary.

Russell worked the campaign of then candidate, now first term State
Representative Paul Harris (R-17) (Third time was the charm) and it looked like
Harris was going to win going away until Russell sent out a mailer for Harris
that changed everything as it attacked Dunn for his age and his weight among
other things... and Harris lost.

Russell also interfaced with the Richard Curtis campaign that I consulted
on. Ultimately, his efforts proved to be equally disastrous and both Curtis and
I worked to, and ultimately was successful in, getting any further involvement
in our campaign by Russell ended.

For example, Russell's second phone call to me was a request for Pam Brokaw's
social security number.

I did not have that number, didn't want it and didn't need it. I told
Russell that we didn't play politics that way and that we were going to win this
fair and square, without engaging in tactics that required an opponent's social
security number.

Since that time, I've watched Russell locally. He's engaged in a pattern of
political dirty tricks including
multiple fake names and handles that enabled him to, typically, attack
political opponents, even after his appointment to the Washougal city council,
while protecting his true identity.

He made up information about
his wife as a "doctor." He repeatedly lied about his education, making
up fake degrees.

Russell, an alleged conservative, worked
on the Port of Vancouver levy on the "for" side, advocating for what would
have been the biggest tax increase in this area's history.

He steadfastly refused to take responsibility for any of the Stacee Sellers
debacle, and had no knowledge over the subsequent disappearance of $100,000 in
city funds even though he chaired the city finance committee.

He made up fake facebook identities that leaned toward small, petite blond
women (Teacher
Judy Banks and Jessica Bowen)
had surrogates engage in personal attacks (One of Jon's minions went so far as
to attempt to get me kicked off the board of a charitable organization in
Idaho)

His campaigns, efforts to get out of Washougal all, included a disastrous,
unsuccessful run at the 3rd District Congressional seat; now, unfortunately,
held by Jaime Herrera... and then a run at the open 18th District House seat
that had been held by Herrera as she vacated to move up to Congress.

I'm hearing a wide variety of other interesting rumors in the political game
concerning candidates in the upcoming election... but don't have quite enough to
go to web, yet. That said, there's an entire blog devoted to Russell's antics,
Jon Russell Watch.

Check it out for more details.

One thing that I appreciate: with Jon Russell's departure to the other side
of the country, I can be less concerned about continuing on as a PCO. Russell
was the only reason I wanted the gig... and with him leaving... well, it's going
to be interesting.

So, underlying Russell's departure was a sense of relief on the part of many,
including me.

Now, Russell is attacking the current city council on his blog over the minutia where he thinks he can show both his superior knowledge and superior grasp of policy.

Some estimates show the increase places Culpeper in the top 15% highest meals tax in Virginia. The meals tax increase is to generate $500,000 annually and will pay debt service on the town’s two-year-old police station and the inner loop road construction.

However, when this tax increase was passed, the town had a $700,000 surplus from the 2012 general budget. The meals tax disproportionately hits people on a fixed income and as a result reduces the number of people able to eat in our local restaurants.

The common sense solution to this problem is for the council to repeal the the meals tax increase and put money back in the pockets of our citizens. This was obviously an overreach by the town and one that can be easily rectified.

Jon Russell has found his issue where he's roosting just now and will be
attempting to use it as a scam to run for office... and soon.

Look this stuff up for yourself:

His self-flagellating web site: rife with the self-promotion and "hurray-for-me-ism" that he's known for.

His Friends of Jon Russell Facebook page...

All of this is being done to raise his local profile so he can suck the
people of Culpeper, Virginia in like he did those of Washougal.

Oddly, he doesn't mention Washougal anywhere that I can see.

Wonder why that is?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-8223963143653531582013-01-10T17:24:00.002-08:002014-02-20T14:10:02.965-08:00You might be wondering: what's Jon Russell been up to? Readers here know how highly I think of Jon Russell, who I believe represents the absolute worst that politics has to offer.

Detailed here, http://jonrussellwatch.blogspot.com, the years-long psychotic episodes of lies, misleading, exaggeration, incompetence... well, I still get emails from people keeping me in the loop about this guy, because he is all about getting elected... to something... anything... and I have made it my pledge to be there when he actually tries to run.

Russell's own campaigns have been utterly abysmal. His abortive run for congress was a disaster; his obnoxious run for the House of Representatives here and his subsequent abandonment of his job in Washougal, which, after all, he was only using as a stair-step and campaign prop to bigger and better things was an outright disaster... scandal after scandal, incompetence after incompetence. Jon Russell Watch details it all.

Well, Russell landed in a bucolic little berg in Virginia named "Culpeper."

He's starting his campaign to get elected to something, because, as his biggest fan, he has GOT to get a title.

So, he's set up the start of a campaign page on facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfJonRussell ) that looks vaguely familiar.

Yeah.

That's what it's all about.

This time, however, he's at least being accurate about his accomplishments, although there's no mention of Washougal on this page... and no mention of, say, Jessica Bowen.

Now he's on a jihad to move the city council election date to November, with a claim of savings and increased participation.

While that may possibly be true, at the end of the day, the idea that he's doing this out of altruism instead of doing it to increase his name familiarity is absurd.

And when he does run... I'm going to be there... educating the people as to what they're actually going to get if he's elected.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7597046332060523830.post-42418543520653810462012-06-26T02:48:00.000-07:002014-02-20T14:48:41.834-08:00Russell, finally, leaves.
For an extended period of time (several months), Jon Russell had been skipping
many of the the city council meetings that he had a duty to attend, since he
was an elected Washougal City Councilman.

So, underlying Russell's departure was a sense of relief on the part of many,
including me.
face: the realities of budget, the realities of policy, the realities of the
demands of the people, and the realities of the people working for you or with
you.

For well known reasons here, Marc Boldt has failed these
tests.

And now, so has David Madore.

Jon Russell, whom I cordially
despise, is a friend to David Madore. For whatever the reason, Madore is blinded
to Russell's basic dishonesty and lack of integrity. Fortunately for us all,
Russell is leaving.

Madore has never been concerned about Russell's
faux-Christianity, his multiple false identities, false educational claims,
false portrayals of his wife as a doctor, and the fact that Russell never
believed Washougal to be anything but a brief stop on his way to political
stardom.

Thankfully, I and others have managed to detour the Russell
Express and shove it off into a ditch.

The Columbian put
together a going-away type story since that sleaze has scammed a job in his
version of Mecca, aka Sodom-on-Hudson, aka Washington, D.C.

According to
Madore, the story made a mistake in descriptive term that in aggregate wasn't
worth mentioning.

First, if it was all that big of a deal, Russell should
have pulled up his big-boy pants and spoke for himself.

Second, the
fawning terms used to describe Russell's exit actually sickened me. That led to
this exchange between Madore and I on the facebook comments under the
article:

David Madore

One correction to the story, rather
than labeling Students for Life as anti-abortion, the proper term is ProLife.
Coston’s quote is inappropriate. This is not the time to be so unkind. When
someone has served the community faithfully so long, when they leave, it is time
to set differences aside and remember the good that they did.

Ray
Legendre, it would have been thoughtful to see you end your story on a positive
note. Whatever your differences with Jon, he did his best and sacrificed to
serve his community. He will be missed.
To which, I replied:

Sorry, but Russell's service was anything BUT "faithful." He never
saw Washougal as anything more than a stepping stone to higher office and he
lied repeatedly during his campaigns about who he was, what he'd done and even
his education.

This area will be well-rid of him and it's frightening
that, for whatever the reason, you cannot see the reality of that and the
reality of Jon.

It makes me worry that you can't deal with political
reality when those you see as "friend" are not even close to what you believe
them to be... and that's a bad tenet in an office holder.

I take some
pride in exposing Russell for what he really is. I was eagerly awaiting his next
campaign when I would have educated everyone to the reality of the dishonesty
and lack of integrity Russell actually lived.

He will never be more than
a political footnote... and he'll never deserve to be. He won't be missed. And
whatever set of blinders you wear?

You'd better take them off... and
quickly.

To which, David provided the following rejoinder:

David Madore

Kage, we have enough divisiveness.
There are more positive uses of our time and talents than having the gift of
criticism. Learning[sic] to get along is a far better investment.

Which led, in turn to my reply:

Kage McClued • Owner/Writer at Jon Russell Watch
Blog

Odd, isn't it, that you never direct this observation to Jon... at
least publicly. How does Russell's record of lies, distortions, false identities
and the like represents "learning to get along" on HIS part?

Where has
Jon Russell EVER taken public responsibility for what he's done?

Nowhere.
But he's your friend. You defend him and what seems to me is obviously the
indefensible.

Your response is an example of the very thing that concerns
me about you.

You MUST see people AS THEY ARE... not as you WISH THEM TO
BE.

Those who we elect MUST be held to the highest standard.

Would
you expect me to vote for you if I knew you were lying about your education?
What if it came out that you had assumed the identities of others to criticize
and attack your political opponents? What if you lied about any aspect of your
business that you are so, quite rightfully, proud of? Or about your wife being a
doctor?

How about lying about your faith? Would that be OK? If you were
to do things like that, should we give you a pass? Should we not hold you
accountable for those deliberate actions?

No?

Then how is it you
give Russell a pass? How is it that you turn a blind eye to the dishonesty, the
years-long lack of integrity; the complete failure, if you will, for Russell's
actions to even remotely resemble the reality of what is supposed to be a
genuine Christian life? Does becoming your friend slam blinders over your
eyes?

To be a successful politician of any stripe... for any position,
you MUST engage in REALITY; not things the way you would LIKE them to be... but
things the way they actually ARE.

While I appreciate your sentiment
above, the fact is this: had not Jon acted in the ways I have detailed... I
would have nothing to criticize, would I?

My "gift" is holding people...
including you... accountable for their political actions, party affiliation
notwithstanding. If what I am saying about Russell isn't true... that's
certainly one thing. But we both know that it is... much like we both know that
evil triumphs when good men do nothing... and remaining silent is doing just
that.

Madore's failure to acknowledge Russell's perfidy and act
towards him like he's a decent, honorable individual who just served his
community?

That doesn't come close to passing the straight face
test.

And whoever becomes our county commissioner MUST pass that
test.
wonderful news that Jon Russell is not only no longer in government but
moving to the other side of the country was greeted across CCP and JRW lands
with joy and acclimation.

Russell's political behavior and actions are so egregious that I devoted a
blog to his hi jinks... a blog that will stay up in perpetuity for generations
to come.

It's unfortunate that someone of Russell's proven lack of character and
integrity has managed to fool people who should presumably, know better.

For details, search both this blog and Jon Russell Watch.

His absence will neither be noticed or missed.

Hopefully, he will never come back... and I am thankful that I've never had
to suffer under his "representation."

In that, I appreciate the fact that his influence failed to extend beyond the
city limits of Washougal, and soon, he will become a distant memory.

Like Lew Waters, I wish his employer luck.

With him working for them...

...They're gonna need it.
Clearly, he thinks so little of those who were fooled into voting for him that he fails miserably in his job of representing them.

When I found out about Russell's new gig, I indicated that he'd be resigning. I had presumed it would be sooner because, well, after all, there's no way that someone like Russell would be much more interested in keeping a title then he would making sure that those he fooled would actually be REPRESENTED by someone... would he?

Since Russell scammed his gig going around the region's college campuses, he's managed to blow off most of the city council meetings which, as a consequence of his position on the city council, you might expect him to, well attend.

Russell, who pretty much has shown over the years that he only really cares about himself; now, apparently, views his unfortunate constituents as mere annoyances, routinely blowing off the city council meetings he was elected to attend.

When not continuing to make up fake identities on Facebook, (And he's still doing that... with many of his multiple fake identities being removed from the Columbian because Russell's too stupid to understand that with each post he spews, along comes his ip address) Russell continues to buff his resume' by going around from campus to campus talking the pre-life goal.

An admirable message... but couldn't they find someone better to deliver it?

Jon Russell Watch was developed to, well, keep an eye on Jon Russell. Another lie by Jon Russell.
Both here and on Jon Russell Watch, I've been documenting Russell's efforts to continue to get paid to miss meetings.

Apparently, my efforts caught the eye of one of my most ardent followers, the democratian... because, though they've never been the most original, they've shown in the past that they're not beyond ripping off this blog for both stories and ideas... this effort likely being a case in point.

The story is about city council types missing city council meetings.
