Two different sources: Russell continuing his disgraceful conduct: continued failures to attend city council meetings.

As reported here, Jon Russell is blowing off his responsibilities by failing to even bother to show up for his city council meetings. yesterday was no exception.

Clearly, he's set his sights on bigger and better things. But his new job is no excuse for his ongoing failures to even bother to show up.

Elected officials who only meet a few times a month in particular have a responsibility to resign from their office if they've decided they can't be bothered to ever show up.

Russell is a case in point.

Between identity theft, campaign lies, character assassination and now, not bothering to show up for any of the meetings, the people of Washougal no longer have any representation from this clown, and it's time for him to go... or be expelled.

The question?

How much longer will those people paying his salary put up with his nonsense?

  1. Why won't the newspapers go after this? They sure didn't take long to try and hang the Mayor on his driving problems...

I've always thought this hypocritical of the Post Record and Columbian.

  2. You are kidding, right? The newspapers won't go after Russell. He is not big enough fish to sell papers. Only reporting on and festering negative stories are what they will go after and report. Golly, we wouldn't want to know about positive things happening!

Russell is scum. We just need to urge him to resign ourselves. Papers won't pressure him to do it, even though he professes to be holier-than-thou. What a scam. Scammer.

  3. Just a note. when all was said and done, doesn't sound like the mayor had a driving problem. just had a problem of a juvinile councilman who wanted to keep it in the news and likely kept bugging the dinks in cowlitz county to keep going. what was it russell said about law enforcememnt when he was running for congress? I mean legislature. I mean. Well, you get what I mean. kept stating he had visited with all police departments and prosecutors in the sw area and they all loved him. Yeah, like a snake!

  4. What gets me is that Russell's own Council will not police or move on him and the community of Washougal will do nothing either. I don't think a twirp like Russell would make it in other places.

  5. According to him, four of the council owe their seats to him. He got them elected. He makes a fifth voice. So, who exactly would police him? Himself? Not likely, as pathetic as the situation is.

  6. I've got to wonder: how many city council meetings can this guy blow off before they get rid of him? Is he still taking his pay checks? When is the council going to act?

  8. I checked the Coucil codes. You can "forfeit office" for missing 3 consecutive REGULAR Council meetings without an excused absence. An excused absence means you have to call the mayor or their designee (Finance Director) and request an excused absence. The Council then is notified during roll call and they have to take a vote for excused or not. After 3 non-excused absences, the member must "forfeit his/her office" (dismissal). To date, Russell has excused absences to date. Note that this is for REGULAR Council meetings and does not include Workshops, Retreats or Specially Called Meetings. Technically, he is safe. Ethically, he still deserves to be called on it and often.

  9. So the mayur is giving his OK for this guy to not do his job?

  10. So, if he gets a pass from the exiting council than his absences do not matter. Well, the existing council does not want the embarrassment and don't like to make waves. So, my guess he will always get that pass to be gone. The real heat should go on our council for allowing this to happen...

  11. The "mayur" or mayor as the rest spell it, has no say. It is a council matter unless he missed 3 actual council meetings in a row without being excused. The heat needs to be placed on the council. Soon. It's the council that is letting him do these childish things.
